The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine - Tucson is a pediatric primary and specialty care department dedicated to providing excellent patient care, medical education, and research. Our faculty engage in a wide range of clinical and research activities, with focus on improving the lives of the children and newborns in Southern Arizona. There is ample opportunity to collaborate with various basic science researchers at the University of Arizona.

Our division of Neonatology is accepting applications for a Division Chief to lead and grow the Division with robust clinical translational and basic science research. The successful candidate will hold the Elks Endowed Chair in Neonatology with proven history of extramural funding. The Chief will also lead a group of outstanding attendings and neonatal nurse practitioners and will participate in clinical responsibilities in a level IV Newborn Intensive Care Unit. In partnership with Banner University Medical Center, we are committed to improving the health of infants by providing quality clinical services, furthering the understanding of complex diseases through original research, and participating in the education of medical students and residents. Candidates with experience in clinical translational research or basic science research is preferred.

The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the clinical growth of the division of Pediatric Neonatology.
  • Teach medical students and residents.
  • Participate in research or other scholarly activities.
  • Lead division meetings and committee service as requested by the Department, College, or clinical partner Banner University Medical Group.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Possess skills required to conduct research activities.
  • Excellent procedural and clinical skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree.
  • BC or BE in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Arizona.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership in clinical and educational enterprises.
  • Experience in programmatic development.
  • Experience in clinical translational research and / or basic science research.
