Job summary

New York Life is seeking an Associate Product Engineer to join the Enterprise Intelligence team. You will develop user-facing products, translate wireframes into production-ready interfaces, and help build component libraries that scale across intelligence solutions.

As an early-career software engineer, you’ll collaborate with product leaders, designers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver actionable insights at the point of decision-making and contribute across the full product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience building applications with React through coursework, internships, personal projects, or open-source.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or strong JavaScript fundamentals, including modern front-end practices.
• Working knowledge of SQL for querying, joining, filtering, and aggregating data.
• Ability to translate wireframes and design specifications into functional, high-quality front-end applications with attention to detail.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front-end applications using React and TypeScript, translating design concepts and wireframes into scalable, production-quality experiences.
• Build functional prototypes and proofs-of-concepts for rapid user feedback and product validation.
• Contribute reusable components, documentation, and automated tests to shared libraries for consistency across products.
• Collaborate closely with designers, product partners, data scientists, and engineers to refine requirements and implementation guidance.
• Integrate APIs and data services into user-facing applications, handling data presentation, loading states, and error conditions.
