Job summary

About The Job
  • The incumbent will plan and organize routine and non‑routine research and development activities concerning the chemical, biological, and physical nature of food.
  • These activities evaluate and improve the quality of existing products and processes and develop new products and processes by meeting key sensory attributes.
  • The incumbent will plan, organize, and complete research and development projects of modest scope, selecting appropriate methods and assisting in experiment design.
  • Interface frequently with internal departments (Marketing, Purchasing, Engineering) and support multiple product categories.
  • Prepare prototypes and line‑extension products using a research lab or pilot plant.
  • Work independently and with teams – both R&D peers and cross‑functional partners – to develop technical solutions of moderate scope.
  • Order and ship materials/samples for prototypes, selecting and evaluating raw materials.
  • Maintain the R&D kitchen with accurate, up‑to‑date records and laboratory notebooks.
  • Design and execute storage studies, including product and package performance under various conditions.
  • Operate and maintain research lab equipment, and interface with outside labs, universities, ingredient suppliers, and equipment vendors as needed.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Preferred Education: HACCP training.
  • Preferred Experience: Five or more years of product development experience.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Valid, current driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of food safety procedures and protocols.

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.
