Job description

Job Title: Associate ~ Fixed Asset Consulting (Entry Level)

Reports To: Senior Director of Fixed Asset Consulting

FLSA Status: Exempt ~ Remote

Job Summary:

As an associate in our Fixed Asset Consultant Group you will play a crucial role in providing our clients with Tangible Property Regulation studies and Fixed Asset Review studies that ensure compliance, maximizes depreciation, and reduces our client’s tax burden. We analyze clients’ tax depreciation schedules and supporting cost documents to determine proper classification of depreciable assets and any potential opportunities for expensing. You will work closely with senior associates, engineers, and sales to ensure tax depreciations studies are accurate and delivered timely.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate directly with client personnel to schedule meetings, request documents, issue deliverables, etc.
  • Ensure all required documents are received and organized for opportunities and engagements.
  • Assist with analysis of client’s tax depreciation schedule, general ledger detail, invoices, etc., to assign the proper tax recovery period.
  • Provide reconciling and data entry support on various opportunities and engagements.
  • Prepare client deliverables documenting the results of our analysis.
  • Prepare import files based on results from studies and import into Source’s fixed asset software.
  • Maintain updates in Project Tracking tools and CRM software.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand needs and goals of assigned engagements.
  • Assist Sr. Tax Director with scheduling meetings, updating project tracking tool, and other tasks.
  • Stay current on federal tax law by attending internal training and tax webinars.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a public accounting firm or corporate accounting department with focus on fixed assets.
  • Prior experience conducting tax research or managing multiple client engagements is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work with a focus on client satisfaction.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and PDF. Broad experience with accounting software is also required. Experience with Sage Fixed Assets software a plus.
