About ING: The Americas Wholesale Banking division offers a broad range of innovative financial products and services to domestic and international corporate and institutional clients. The Finance Department seeks an analytical, tech-forward, and adaptable Financial Reporting Associate within the Financial Accounting Team to connect the dots across complex global banking products and a global organization. The role leverages data analysis and business intelligence tools to optimize, test, and modernize Wholesale Banking financial, regulatory, and liquidity reporting workflows. Hybrid work model with at least two days per week onsite in New York City.
About the department: The Finance department manages the financial aspects of the Wholesale Banking business line, ensuring complete and accurate presentation of financial, regulatory, and liquidity reporting for the Americas Region in accordance with ING Group policies, accounting standards, and regulatory frameworks. The role operates on a hybrid framework.
Responsibilities
- Reporting delivery: Prepare and review the end-to-end production of compliant Head-Office Consolidated Financials and ECB Regulatory Reporting.
- BI dashboard development: Build, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards and data visualizations from core ledgers (e.g., Oracle PeopleSoft, SAP) into dynamic financial reports.
- Data-driven variance analysis: Conduct deep-dive balance sheet, income statement, and off-balance sheet variance analysis to identify data anomalies and explain financial movements.
- UAT & project testing: Participate in and execute User Acceptance Testing and validation for reporting infrastructure projects, system migrations, and automated dashboard rollouts.
- Process optimization: Streamline reporting workflows, reduce reliance on manual spreadsheets, and implement automated validation checks.
- Financial data ownership: Ensure quality, reliability, and audit trail of financial reports with clean backend data mappings and documentation.
- Stakeholder liaison: Collaborate with Finance teams, Risk, Treasury, Operations, Front Office, and auditors to resolve data dependencies.
- Strategic advisory: Translate variance analyses and dashboard insights into actionable recommendations for Senior Management and Business Heads.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Experience: 4+ years in financial reporting, regulatory reporting, or banking accounting with a strong data visualization portfolio.
- Regulatory & framework expertise: Understanding of accounting concepts relevant to Wholesale Banking; preferred experience with IFRS, FINREP, LCR DA, ECB Stress Testing; US GAAP knowledge is a plus.
- Academic background: Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification highly preferred.
- Data analysis & BI: Hands-on experience building Power BI dashboards; familiarity with data modeling and mapping unstructured data into structured visualizations.
- Tech stack: Proficiency in MS Office; SQL or Python for backend data manipulation is a plus alongside Power BI.
- AI & innovation mindset: Open to leveraging AI tools to accelerate code writing, debugging formulas, and automating documentation.
- Accountability: Demonstrates responsibility for delivering high-quality, reliable outcomes.
- Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills and independent thinking to isolate data issues.
- Detail orientation: Meticulous with a clear audit trail.
- Communication & presence: Effective written and verbal communication; ability to tell a financial story visually to non-financial audiences and leadership.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $110,000-140,000 (base). Eligible for discretionary bonus. Comprehensive health benefits, 401k, and generous PTO.
