Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and analytical Associate Financial Advisor to join our dynamic fee-only financial advisory firm. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in constructing comprehensive financial plans, drafting strategic recommendations, and actively participating in client meetings. Scholar Financial Advising is a Winston-Salem, North Carolina based fee-only investment advisory firm focused on fiduciary financial planning services. Our customized plans are created on a flat fee, hourly basis, or a monthly retainer through our family office CFO signature program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing thorough financial plans tailored to individual client objectives, including retirement, tax strategies, estate planning, and investment management.
  • Analyze client financial information to identify and prioritize short-term and long-term financial goals.
  • Draft detailed financial recommendations aligned with client objectives, adhering to firm standards and compliance regulations.

Client Interaction:

  • Participate actively in client meetings, preparing necessary documents, and presenting recommendations under the guidance of senior advisors.
  • Follow up diligently on client action items and provide ongoing support to address financial inquiries and adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of client interactions, recommendations, and planning outcomes.

Research and Analysis:

  • Perform in-depth analysis of investment portfolios, tax planning opportunities, and financial products to support advisor recommendations.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and financial products to enhance planning strategies and firm offerings.

Professional Development:

  • Engage proactively in educational opportunities to expand financial planning expertise, working towards obtaining a CFA or CFP designation.
  • Contribute collaboratively to the team's knowledge base, sharing insights and best practices to support firm-wide growth and client success.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, or a related financial services role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build comprehensive financial plans and draft client-centric recommendations.
  • Completion of or working toward a CFA charter or CFP certification is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to diverse client audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Professionalism with strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data insights and optimize financial strategies accordingly.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with experience, expected range of $55,000-$80,000
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) to support work-life balance

  • Retirement match: 6% to a 401(k) plan

Interviewing Process

We intend to interview top candidates in June with a plan for the position to start in July. There are five stages to our hiring process:
