Position: Associate Field Service Technician - Vegetation Management

Location: Amsterdam/Sharon Springs, NY 13459

Duration: 5 Months (May to October 2025)

Overview

Join our team as a Solar Site Vegetation Management Technician responsible for maintaining the grounds of cutting-edge solar energy installations. This role combines technical skills with outdoor work, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to renewable energy infrastructure while working in a dynamic field environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform vegetation management activities including mowing, herbicide application, and weed removal
  2. Safely operate equipment including standard/zero-turn mowers, tractors, and weed whackers
  3. Maintain cleanliness of equipment and solar site grounds
  4. Work independently within supervised guidelines
  5. Install and maintain network/cell equipment when required
  6. Interpret basic circuit diagrams and service orders
  7. Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform necessary repairs
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 2+ years of field experience
  • Ability to safely operate lawn maintenance equipment
  • Basic knowledge of fiber optic and network equipment
  • Experience with DC power equipment
  • Working knowledge of Sonet or Ethernet systems
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
