Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Ensure overall administrative and operational responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the Behavioral Health Services operations at Woodhull Medical Center.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

BH Administration, CPEP, Inpatient, Outpatient Adult, Child & Adol, SUR, Mobile Crisis, ACT

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Overall administrative responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of Behavioral Health Services at WMC
• Takes the lead in the implementation and enforcement of CMS, OASAS and JC requirements for psychiatric, alcohol, and substance abuse programming.
• Provides strong leadership and drives accountability from all levels within the service lines
• With the Chair of the Department, leads, efforts to decrease ALOS, improves access to care, hardwires best practices to ensure a safe environment for both staff and patients and improve the quality and continuity of patient care.
• Oversees the following areas: CPEP (Psychiatric Emergency Room), In-patient Division comprised of 4 units, Adult, Child & Adolescent Out-patient Divisions at Woodhull Mental Health Clinic, CHAT, Mobile Crisis, SUR and other related grant funded initiatives.
• Represents Woodhull Medical Center in meeting with CBOs, Central Office Leadership, and local and state regulatory agencies.
• Work with multiple internal and external constituencies to support the transformation of Behavioral Health Services at HHC
• Prepare departmental and grant-funded program budgets. Have an awareness of Behavioral Health Finance.
• Monitors staffing patterns and makes appropriate recommendations as necessary
• Initiates and participates in the formulation and oversight of policies and procedures, contracts, linkage agreements and transfer agreements.
• Maintains a close working relationship with senior staff members, department and service line managers.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital or Health Care Administration, Public Health or a related discipline and five (5) years of high-level responsible experience in Hospital, Business, or Public Administration or a Health Care Administrator in a position of direct responsibility for operations of a major part or all of a, health care setting, including substantial exposure in meeting community health needs; or
2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in “1” above; and six (6)years of high-level experience in areas as described in “1” above.
