Job summary

Analog Devices, Inc. in Beaverton, OR seeks an Associate Equipment Engineer to support wafer fab equipment, troubleshoot failures, and drive improvements across photolithography and related tooling.

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is required; pref. hands-on with equipment upgrades, PLCs, robotics, vacuum and pneumatic systems. Strong math and programming skills (Python, VB, Java) are valued. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with maintaining/upgrading processing or laboratory equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; experience with robotics, motors, PCB troubleshooting, vacuum and pneumatic systems, PLC programming.
  • Proficiency with Visual Basic, Python, Java or similar programming language.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot process equipment failures and optimize tool performance.
  • Assist in qualifying new equipment, materials and consumables.
  • Develop and monitor process/equipment measurements to improve quality.
  • Design, prototype and deploy equipment upgrades and yield improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to improve factory performance.

The Equipment Engineering team consists of multiple functional areas within the operations of the wafer fab including Photolithography, Diffusion, Implant, Epitaxy, Dry Etch, Wet Etch, and Thin Films. In one of these groups you’ll have the opportunity to working on highly impactful projects that will make a meaningful difference to ADI.**Typical Responsibilities include:*** Troubleshooting process equipment failures* Optimizing equipment to match process performance across tools and maximize output.* Qualifying new equipment, new raw materials, and new consumable parts* Developing and monitoring process and equipment measurements to improve quality* Designing, prototyping, and deploying equipment upgrades* Root cause investigation of discrepant material and implementation of yield improvement programs* Developing improvements to manufacturing processes and modifications to production process flows to improve yield, quality, cost, and cycle time* Analyzing cycle time and equipment availability/utilization metrics* Writing operating and equipment maintenance specifications* Partnering with manufacturing operations to continuously improve factory performance**Minimum Requirements:*** Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or related field of study.**Preferred Qualifications*** Experience with maintaining and upgrading processing or laboratory equipment* Experience with robotics, motors, PCB troubleshooting and/or design, vacuum systems, pneumatic systems, PLC programming* Demonstrated history of strong mechanical aptitude* Superb computer and math skills, including statistics* Proficient with Visual Basic, Python, Java or similar programming language* Able to communicate with audience at any technical level* Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to productively engage with individuals from a range of backgrounds.* Adaptable, detail-oriented, practical thinker, and problem solver who is a quick learner* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously* Self-starter with a strong worth ethic who will thrive in a dynamic 24/7 operation*For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
