Job summary

Dokken Engineering is seeking an Associate Engineer (Water Resources) for our San Diego or Irvine offices. You will perform a variety of civil engineering tasks within water resources, focusing on municipal water or riverine hydraulics depending on experience.

This full-time role involves leading project components and working with small teams to deliver solutions across California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• California Professional Civil Engineer license required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive water resources experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead portions or entire projects related to water resources design and analyses.
• Assist in business development and project management of projects.
• Lead preparation of engineering analyses for potable water, sewer, recycled water, drainage, flood control and irrigation systems.
• Collaborate with small teams of engineers and planners to deliver projects.
• Coordinate with internal/external disciplines, utility companies, subconsultants and clients.
• Train Assistant and Intern Engineering staff; attend meetings; prepare minutes; address action items.
• Perform quality control for reports and projects.

Dokken Engineering delivers innovative engineering solutions for water resources projects throughout the state of California. We are seeking an Associate Engineer (Water Resources) for our San Diego or Irvine offices. You will be providing a variety of professional civil engineering and water resources tasks. The position can be focused on either municipal water (water and sewer) OR riverine hydraulics/flood control/drainage depending on experience of the right candidate.

You will be performing engineering work and exercising independent judgment.

• Lead portions or whole projects associated with water resources design and analyses
• Assist in business development and project management of projects
• Lead preparation of engineering analyses for potable water, sewer, recycled water, drainage, flood control, and agricultural irrigation systems
• Work with small teams comprised of engineers and planners to deliver projects

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordination with internal/external disciplines, utility companies, subconsultants and clients
• Train Assistant and Intern Engineering staff
• Attend meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and address action items
• Perform quality control for reports/projects
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
• California Professional Civil Engineer license
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive water resources experience

Other Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Master’s degree in engineering a plus
• Connections with water agencies in California
• Strong understanding of basic and more complex water resources principles
• Stormwater Practitioner/Designer (QSP/D), Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), or other water resources or project management certifications a plus

FLSA Status: Full-Time Exempt
