Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks an Associate Engineer II, Automation to support the lifecycle of process control programming, hardware, and network infrastructure in our manufacturing plant. You will implement automation improvements, provide technical support to Plant Operations, and assist with transferring new automated equipment.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Engineering and 3+ years of automation experience, with PLC/SCADA expertise and familiarity with FDA/cGMP; strong cross-functional

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or similar.
  • 3+ years Automation Engineering experience.
  • PLC and/or SCADA programming experience.
  • Growing understanding of FDA compliance; awareness of cGMP/GAMP.
  • Communication/interpersonal skills for cross-functional work.
  • Technical writing skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize timelines/deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC and SCADA programs and process control hardware for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot automation, electrical, and mechanical system issues (simple to moderate independently; moderate to complex with root-cause approach).
  • Define scope/deliverables for simple to moderate automation improvement projects; lead or work on cross-functional teams to plan, implement, and test.
  • Participate in teams for moderate to complex automation projects; mitigate risks, provide updates, and meet timelines.
  • Coordinate with contracted system integrators.
  • Update and maintain engineering documents, electrical/network drawings, and equipment records.
  • Advance SOPs for process control system administration, maintenance, and change management.
  • Serve as a super user for simple automation systems; manage device/user additions and alarm strategy reviews.
  • Perform admin/maintenance tasks (version reviews, backups, patching).
  • Partner with IS&I to troubleshoot process control network infrastructure and hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with internal/external requirements via good engineering practices and change management.
  • Provide troubleshooting to support business continuity; second-level support for maintenance.

Job description

The Associate Engineer II, Automation supports the lifecycle of process control programming, hardware, and supporting network infrastructure to enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity for the manufacturing plant, including implementing automation improvements, providing technical support to Plant Operations, and supporting projects to transfer new automated equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC and SCADA programs and process control hardware for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot automation, electrical, and mechanical system issues (simple to moderate independently; moderate to complex with root-cause approach).
  • Define scope/deliverables for simple to moderate automation improvement projects; lead or work on cross-functional teams to plan, implement, and test.
  • Participate in teams for moderate to complex automation projects; mitigate risks, provide updates, and meet timelines.
  • Coordinate with contracted system integrators.

  • Perform admin/maintenance tasks (version reviews, backups, patching).
  • Partner with IS&I to troubleshoot process control network infrastructure and hardware.
  • Ensure compliance with internal/external requirements via good engineering practices and change management.
  • Provide troubleshooting to support business continuity; second-level support for maintenance (instrumentation/wiring).
  • Escalation point for Metrology, Process Engineering, and IS&I automation needs/issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or similar.
  • 3+ years Automation Engineering experience.
  • PLC and/or SCADA programming experience.
  • Growing understanding of FDA compliance; awareness of cGMP/GAMP.
  • Communication/interpersonal skills for cross-functional work.
  • Technical writing skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize timelines/deadlines.
Preferred
  • Siemens process control experience (STEP 7, WinCC, Process Historian).
  • Commissioning/qualification/change management in regulated environments.
  • Process control instrumentation troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on process equipment operations and mechanical integration/troubleshooting.
  • CAD experience for electrical/automation drawings.
  • Process control network administration/troubleshooting.

Pay range: $75,000 USD - $90,000 USD. Benefits: competitive salaries and an excellent benefit package.
