Qualifications

  • Preferred: degree in chemical engineering with 0–3 years of experience.

ASSOCIATE ENGINEER I
What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you report to the Director of the Amgen North Carolina (ANC2) Facilities and Engineering group, this position is responsible for providing engineering support to ANC2 operations.

  • Apply basic engineering principles to implementation of system modifications, execution commissioning activities, or the performance of process troubleshooting efforts
  • Develop, organizing, analyzing, and presenting results for operational issues and engineering projects of minor scope and complexity
  • Work closely with multiple disciplines, including manufacturing, engineering, utility operations, maintenance, quality assurance, and validation to implement operational improvements and meet goals.
  • Communicate proactively with supervisor and support staff, highlighting issues.
  • Scope of process/equipment includes, but is not limited to: Single-Use Bioreactors, Stainless Bioreactors, Aseptic Operations, Incubators, Harvest Centrifuge, Column Chromatography, TFF, Analytical Equipment, Sterile Bulk Fill
  • Scope of systems includes, but is not limited to: Kneat, MES, PAS|X, DeltaV, Pi Historian, SmartSheet, Bluebeam, Maximo, Plant Control Tower
  • Ability to provide On-Call support coverage on weekends, on a rotating basis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 6 years of Engineer experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 4 years of Engineer experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent, with 0 to 3 years of experience in engineering or plant operations
  • Experience with regulated environments (i.e. GMP, OSHA, EPA)
  • Sound understanding of basic engineering principles and ability to apply them to resolve process issues.
  • Must possess strong math and computer skills and possess the ability to apply science-based thinking to practical applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively set priorities.
  • Energetic and technically minded individual.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
