EMD Electronics in Carlsbad, CA is seeking an Associate Engineer I to work with experimental products in a lab setting, focusing on safe design and operation of chemical-transfer systems in a semiconductor materials environment.

You will collaborate with R&D scientists, engineers, and safety teams to drive safe, compliant lab operations and ongoing process improvements, while preparing and documenting essential records.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Physics.
• 4+ years experience in chemical production, laboratory or chemical engineering role.
• 1+ year handling hazardous chemicals in a laboratory.
• Strong safety and quality focus; familiarity with SDSs and risk assessments.
• Experience with SAP, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office.

Aufgaben

• Design, assess, and improve chemical-transfer systems, processes, and equipment to enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, quality, and maintainability.
• Execute engineering projects end to end—from ideation and concept studies through basic and detailed design, installation, and commissioning—delivering integrated solutions that meet customer and business needs.
• Lead thorough hazard assessments and near-miss investigations involving chemical-transfer equipment, systems, and tools; document findings.
• Perform and document equipment repairs and periodic maintenance; support process-improvement activities.
• Complete work to agreed requirements and timelines, following applicable and stringent safety, quality, and documentation standards.
• Support chemical distillation and purification processes, as well as chemical sample preparation.
