Job summary

Kautex, part of Textron Inc., invites an Associate Eng Prod Dev to join the US-Michigan-Troy site. You will drive development of customer products from concept to mass production, coordinating with design, manufacturing and procurement teams.

You will ensure requirements, target costs, and timelines are met, supervise tests, interpret results, and support launches. Strong hands-on automotive mechatronics experience and international travel readiness are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Hands-on automotive engineering experience with mechatronics systems.
• Experience with battery systems in the automotive sector.
• Business English required; German/French/Japanese a plus.
• Willingness to travel frequently.

Responsibilities

• Develop customer products from concept through prototyping, validation and mass production.
• Ensure customer specs, cost targets and timing goals are met.
• Act as technical liaison between development teams and the customer.
• Supervise product testing and interpret results to drive actions.
• Support flawless product launches and coordinate issues with Program Manager.
• Use PLM as the project space for serial programs.

What awaits you:

• Develop customer product from first system concept, through quote, prototyping, validation and towards a fully released product in mass production
• Ensure proactive requirements and risk management for all technical aspects
• Ensure that customer specifications as well as cost targets, design-to-manufacture and timing goals are met
• Knowledge about and compliance to the customer specific requirements
• Seek for and achieve customers’ buy in to utilize standardized development and validation testing, if and where useful and applicable
• Act as technical liason between product development teams and the customer and all other internal functions like design, manufacturing and industrialization
• Supervise product testing including interpretation of test results, introduction of the necessary actions and modifications as required to ensure that all requirements are met
• Support flawless launches by planning and controlling all technical issues related to assigned project and support the Program Manager in delivering highest quality solutions to our customers
• Provide product engineering expertise in a professional manner during customer visits and audits, with the team as well as in collaboration with other departments (e.g. manufacturing, purchasing, sales)
• Act as a Technical Project Lead Engineer with responsibility for a technical project team with reference to various KT technologies/systems like FUEL and PENTATONIC.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer to other regions
• Hands on support on related projects in other regions than Germany
• Use PLM as our regular project space for serial programs.

Qualifications

What you’ll need to succeed:

• Degree in Mechanical or Electronical Engineering, Mechatronics or a comparable education
• Product design knowledge including welding and assembly with regards to blow molding, injection molding, compression molding and metals is a strong plus
• Hands on engineering experience in automotive engineering for complex mechatronics systems as well as mechanical engineering.
• Hands on engineering experience with battery systems in the automotive sector
• Experience working with OEMs preferred
• Business English mandatory
• German, French and/or Japanese language skills are a plus
• Willingness for frequent business travels
