Job summary

ABB is seeking an engineer to design electrical connection diagrams for engineered-to-order projects in Mebane, NC. You will interpret electrical schematics, lay out device configurations, and produce 2D drawings for wire harnesses while ensuring compliance with NEC, ANSI, IEEE and customer specs.

The role requires AutoCAD proficiency, experience with control wiring, and a background in manufacturing or electrical design.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• 2 years of experience in Manufacturing, Customer Application Engineering, or Electrical Design.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams; knowledge of power systems and protection.
• Experience with control wiring and electrical distribution equipment.
• Proficient with AutoCAD (latest version) or equivalent CAD; CAD certification preferred.
• Familiar with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint; SAP/Windchill knowledge helpful.

Responsibilities

• Create electrical connection diagrams using ANSI standards and to meet project objectives.
• Review schematic accuracy with project engineers to ensure correct electrical connections for specific applications.
• Customize electrical device layouts and create 2D drawings for wire harnesses and instrument doors/barriers.
• Ensure designs meet NEC, ANSI, IEEE, and customer specifications; address manufacturing queries.
• Develop standards for terminal point assignment and wiring rules; document processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
