What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Write, edit, and publish a high volume of news and culture content daily, including breaking stories and reported features
- Collaborate closely with editorial, audio, and social teams to ensure cohesive, timely coverage across platforms
- Identify and elevate emerging stories relevant to Black audiences with context
- Package and optimize stories with compelling headlines, visuals, and captions for web and social distribution
- Participate in real-time coverage during breaking news moments, coordinating closely with teammates
What is Required (Qualifications):
- 1–3 years of experience in digital journalism, web producing, or content creation
- Proven experience writing and editing online content, including articles, headlines, and social media copy
- Familiarity with CMS publishing tools and basic image editing software (e.g., Photoshop)
- Working knowledge of SEO, tagging, and content optimization best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field preferred, but not required with strong experience

- Strong writing and editorial judgment with a genuine love of news and cultural conversation
- Experience publishing or promoting content on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, and emerging networks
- Collaborative communicator who works well across teams and disciplines
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptable and responsive during breaking news and evolving coverage
