Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer/Designer who is passionate about electric utility design engineering. You will develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems and work directly with clients to ensure high-quality outcomes. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial preferred with 0+ years of experience.
• Experience with NESC Standards, ESRI, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and GIS a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to utilize a personal vehicle; some travel anticipated.
• Willingness to perform both field and office work; occasional outdoor work.
• Candidates should possess valid U.S. driver's license; some local or regional travel expected.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for Leidos electric utility customers.
• Review work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.
• Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
• Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure applicable engineering and construction standards are met.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements for large design packages in dense urban environments; work permits, easements, and ROW applications.

Leidos is seeking Associate Distribution Engineer's who are passionate about electric utility design engineering. Location

This position has remote-working capabilities but the preference is for candidates to be located within a commutable distance of Pittsburgh, PA metropolitan area (Western Pennsylvania) to support local utility clients as business needs require.

As an Associate Distribution Engineer / Designer, you can expect to:

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for Leidos electric utility customers

• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred) with 0+ years of experience.
• Experience with NESC Standards, ESRI, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and GIS a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to utilize a personal vehicle,as some customer-related travel could be anticipated(Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates)
• Willingness to perform both field and office work; Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion; The role may require customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages
• Candidates should possess valid U.S. driver's license, as some local or regional travel is expected

Pay Range

Pay Range $50,700.00 - $91,650.00
