Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago is seeking an Associate Director, University Communications to lead media relations, storytelling, and crisis management in partnership with UI Health and health sciences colleges. You will craft op-eds, press releases, and media pitches while supporting crisis communications and media training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Five years of professional experience in media relations, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
• Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulatory requirements for healthcare communications.

Responsibilities

• Produce and distribute media relations and crisis content across print, broadcast, and multimedia.
• Serve as the main contact for external news and collaborations for current and emerging coverage.
• Build and maintain relationships with local, national, and international media and stakeholders.
• Proactively write and pitch health sciences research, clinical stories, events, and major grants.
