Job summary

University of Minnesota seeks an Associate Director of Budget to lead systemwide revenue and cost forecasting, budget analysis, and budget process design. The role reports to the Vice President & Budget Director and balances advocacy for units with University-wide priorities.

The position requires extensive budgeting experience, leadership, and strong communication skills, with a hybrid work arrangement based in Minneapolis and traveling to multiple campuses as needed.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree plus at least 15 years of experience.
• Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Policy, or related fields is preferred.
• Experience in budgeting, cost analysis, and managing fiscal services for a large complex organization.

Responsibilities

• Direct the university's annual operating budget development and function as a primary expert in the budget model.
• Provide guidance to executive leaders during budget development and ensure alignment with strategic direction.
• Lead the Budget Committee liaison and coordinate with 50+ Resource Responsibility Centers.
• Lead the development of biennial state appropriations and policy guidance.
• Oversee enterprise monitoring, reporting, and development of proactive financial strategies.
