Job summary

Becton Dickinson is seeking an Associate Director of R&D to lead new product development in the Infusion business. The role requires guiding complex infusion systems, monitoring technologies, and cross-disciplinary teams across hardware, software, and data integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering field (Mechanical, Systems, Physics, Electrical, Biomedical, Software).
• 10 years of growing responsibility in R&D technical engineering roles with product development experience.
• Understanding of quality management systems.
• Regulated industry experience (FDA, Automotive, Industrial, etc).
• Experience with design for manufacturing, process validation and design transfer.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across hardware, software, systems, and product development functions.
• Project management experience for sophisticated systems.
• Experience in a proven design process (e.g. DFSS) over multiple programs.

• Plan and manage yearly platform budget to ensure execution of deliverables.

Summary:

The Associate Director of R&D will serve as a technical leader for new product development within the Infusion business.

Responsibilities

• Will act as the technical leader for complex infusion systems, monitoring technologies, and integrated clinical solutions, with responsibility for significant portions of the product development effort.
• Will provide technical leadership for multidisciplinary engineering efforts spanning hardware, software, systems, data integration, and collaborate closely with the monitoring technologies.
• Will define technical architectures and product strategies that support the evolution of infusion systems and associated monitoring capabilities.
• Will collaborate with clinical, product management, regulatory, quality, and engineering teams to develop innovative solutions that address evolving customer and patient needs.
• Will provide technical leadership, direct and indirect reports, with the ability to deep dive into technical issues.
• Will Implement best-in-class R&D tools, processes & standards within the development platform.
• Will create Product Development goals which are linked with business priorities and traced to individual engineering responsibilities.
• Will drive and lead innovative problem resolution at an accelerated pace.
• Will work in a development environment which supports both organic and inorganic development opportunities
• Will lead and work with Functional Leaders to assign engineering disciplines to achieve platform goals.
• Will work with other leaders to mentor, develop and manage performance of talent assigned to the platform.
• Will to plan and administer yearly platform budget to ensure proper execution of deliverables as aligned to business strategy

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering field (Mechanical, Systems, Physics, Electrical, Biomedical, Software).
• 10 years of growing responsibility in R&D technical engineering roles with experience in product development.
• Understanding of quality management systems
• Regulated industry experience (FDA, Automotive, Industrial, etc).

• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across hardware, software, systems, and product development functions.
• Project management experience for sophisticated systems.
• Experience in a proven design process (e.g. DFSS) over multiple programs.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge:

• Master's degree or PhD (Mechanical, Systems, Physics, Electrical, Biomedical, Software Engineering, or related discipline) with extensive product development experience.
• Experience with patient monitoring technologies, physiological sensing systems, or clinical decision-support capabilities.
• Experience developing integrated medical device systems involving software, data, analytics, or intelligent monitoring solutions.
• In-depth FDA and regulated medical device experience.
