Job summary

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in R&D engineering (or a PhD with 5+ years) across regulated environments, with strong design for manufacturing and project management experience. On-site collaboration is emphasized to drive innovation and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering field required (Mechanical, Systems, Physics, Electrical, Biomedical, Software).
• Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
• At least 8 years of growing responsibility in R&D engineering roles, or a PhD with 5 years of industry experience.
• Regulated industry experience (FDA, Automotive, Industrial).
• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
• Experience with design for manufacturing and design transfer.
• Familiarity with Mechatronics Analysis & Design.
• Project management experience for complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership for complex medical device platform development and major sub-projects.
• Define technical strategy and execution of product development projects.
• Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Develop technical project plans, V&V planning and execution, and timelines.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

• Technical leader for complex medical device platform(s) and important sub-project(s), ranging from smaller sustaining design changes to large product enhancement initiatives

• Responsible for the technical strategy and execution of product development projects.

• Provide technical leadership to direct and in-direct reports, with the ability to deep dive into technical issues.

• Lead in the development of technical project plans, verification and validation planning and execution, and detailed timelines for project execution.

• Create Product Development goals which are linked with business priorities and traced to individual engineering responsibilities.

• Implement best-in-class R&D tools, processes & standards within the development platform.

• Drive and lead innovative problem resolution at an accelerated pace.

• Work in a development environment which supports both organic and inorganic development opportunities

• Lead and work with Functional Leaders to assign engineering disciplines to achieve platform goals. Work with other leaders to mentor, develop and performance manage talent assigned to the platform.

• Work with cross-functional engineering managers to ensure proper talent allocations throughout the year

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering field (Mechanical, Systems, Physics, Electrical, Biomedical, Software) required. Master’s degree or PhD preferred.

• At least 8 years of growing responsibility in R&D technical engineering roles or a PhD in a relevant engineering discipline with 5 years of industry experience, with extensive, successful experience in product development and a clear understanding of quality management systems.

• Regulated industry experience (FDA, Automotive, Industrial, etc.)

• Experience with design for manufacturing, process validation and design transfer

• Familiarity with Mechatronics Analysis & Design.

• Experience leading a team of multi-disciplinary engineers.

• Project management experience for complex systems.

• Experience in a proven design process (e.g. DFSS) over multiple programs.
