Job summary

Campbell Soup Company in Maxton, NC seeks a senior Quality leader to oversee site quality programs, regulatory compliance, and labs. You will direct the Quality team, drive continuous improvement, and ensure adherence to SQF, HACCP, FSMA, and product release standards.

The role emphasizes training, staff development, and cross-functional influence across Manufacturing, R&D and Engineering to maintain high safety and quality across ingredients, packaging and finished products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Food Science, Biology or Chemistry or related field.
  • Minimum of 12+ years plant/systems experience with demonstrated leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality Systems within food processing.
  • Experience in Sanitation and GMP practices; familiarity with Pest Control programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools (LEAN, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food processing and standard Quality Practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Quality leadership to the Maxton site, including developing the Quality plan and aligning resources.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the site Quality program to meet USDA/FDA requirements.
  • Lead and participate in CNA Quality leadership group for strategy and network-wide implementation.
  • Manage quality laboratories, SQF/HACCP/FSMA programs and product release procedures.
  • Direct training, engagement and career development of staff.

What you will do...
  • Provide Quality leadership to the Maxton site, including the development of the Quality plan, alignment/development of resources and execution of priorities.
  • Ensuring the continuous improvement of the site Quality program to meet regulatory and CSC North American Quality requirements (Compliance Quality and all regulatory requirements for USDA and FDA).
  • Drive process / continuous improvement initiatives through staff, work group, Plant group, and R&D (Process/Food Quality).
  • Manage and drive Consumer Complaint reduction programs, initiatives at the plant.
  • Participate and lead as a member of the CNA Quality leadership group responsible for quality strategy development, policy alignment and network wide implementation.
  • Manage and direct the overall functions of Quality and the laboratories at the Maxton plant.
  • Responsible for directing all programs designated to the quality team including SQF, HACCP, FSMA, Recipe Management, Laboratories, Auditing, Quality Assurance Departmental procedures, product release and withheld programs.
  • Responsible for training, engagement and career development of staff.
  • This role will be located in Maxton, NC and will have Quality leadership responsibility for the Maxton plant.
  • Must respond to new or revised regulations or policies, specifications, procedures, quality, and implications where utilized in a range of finished product.
  • Must troubleshoot Quality issues across the various supply chains for ingredients, packaging, materials, and finished products supplied (examples; mislabeled, allergen risk management, equipment risk management, container non-conformance, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Quality Standards and Quality Policies, with skills and ability to execute against requirements.
  • Knowledge and general business acumen to support and influence multiple functions including Manufacturing, Product Development and Engineering.
  • Knowledge in Food Safety/Quality audit practices in the food industry, as well as skill in adapting them to achieve business best practices.
  • Must be familiar with SQF standard.
  • Capable of engaging other business unit's Quality in development and standardization of Quality manuals, policies, procedures, and data templates; audit standards and procedures; and Quality Key Performance Indicators.
  • Knowledgeable in Statistical Process Control programs and Process Capability studies.
  • Ability to drive organizational alignment on Quality objectives with an enterprise-wide mindset, and the adaptation of structure, processes, and systems to achieve objectives.
  • Capable of influencing development steps used in the Innovation and Commercialization process to leverage design in achieving consumer safety and quality objectives (example: HACCP Assessment).

What you will bring to the table...
  • (Must Have) Bachelor degree in Food Science, Biology or Chemistry or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality Systems and their application within food processing preferred.
  • Experience in Sanitation and GMP Practices, familiarity with Pest Control programs and techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Continuous Improvement tools. (i.e. LEAN, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food processing
  • Familiar with industry standard Quality Practices and procedures
I would be great if you have... (Nice to Have)
  • 15+ years plant/systems experience with demonstrated leadership achievement.
  • Familiar with formula and information management systems including Optiva, SAP and RMS.
Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $155,700-$214,100. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
