Job summary

Jobtailor in New Jersey seeks a senior Publication Lead to drive global publication strategies across therapeutic areas. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, develop comprehensive tactical plans, and present plans to management and stakeholders.

The role requires expert understanding of clinical development and industry publication standards. Lead committees, manage budgets, train teams, and ensure quality and compliance with ICMJE, CONSORT, and GPP.

Qualifications

  • BS and 8+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, or MS and 6+ years, or Pharm D/PhD and 3+ years
  • At least 3 years of industry experience in pharmaceutical drug development
  • At least 2 years of experience in publication management
  • Relevant experience in the therapeutic area of interest and strong scientific background
  • Understanding of the clinical development process, clinical study data, and outcome measures
  • In‑depth understanding of the scientific and medical rationale for assigned therapeutic areas
  • Thorough understanding of industry and publication standards concerning authorship, industry publication best practices, and medical/scientific communications quality and appropriateness
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Experience leading different groups to deliver objectives across a global organization
  • Ability to review and provide input on scientific literature
  • Ability to communicate complex medical/scientific information
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple projects independently and within multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional Publication Teams for products within assigned therapeutic areas
  • Develop and maintain global publication strategies and comprehensive tactical plans
  • Lead Publication Team meetings and facilitate strategic discussions
  • Prepare meeting background materials, agendas, and notes
  • Provide therapeutic-area expertise for scientific strategy and data dissemination planning
  • Develop and update Scientific Communication Platforms and Lexicons
  • Develop congress communication platforms and post-congress executive summaries
  • Present publication plans to management and internal and external stakeholder meetings
  • Develop publication charters with joint venture partners
  • Initiate and lead Publication Committees where appropriate
  • Track publication activity using the Datavision publications database and generate stakeholder reports
  • Build relationships with clinical investigators, scientific leaders, external authors, journal editors, and congress secretariats
  • Select, contract, and manage medical communications agencies and freelance writers
  • Monitor vendor performance and facilitate issue resolution
  • Plan and manage publication planning budgets and provide management updates
  • Ensure compliance with ICMJE Recommendations, CONSORT, Good Publication Practice, and company publication policies
  • Provide publication process compliance training
  • Identify and drive process improvements and share best practices
  • Conduct business in accordance with company values and standards
