Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics in South San Francisco, CA is seeking a senior procurement leader to drive vendor sourcing, RFPs, negotiations, and performance management across Development and Commercial teams.

The role guides spend strategy, ensures P2P adherence, leads vendor relationships, and reports savings and KPIs, with potential leadership of direct reports and a focus on GAAP/SOX controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or closely related field is required.
• 9+ years procurement experience in biotech/pharmaceutical.
• 5+ years people management experience (if applicable).
• Strong experience in purchasing, negotiation, and vendor relationship management.
• Familiar with Development and Commercial activities in a biotech company.
• Strong knowledge of Procurement IT solutions (e.g., Coupa, Concur) and GAAP/SOX/internal accounting controls.

Responsibilities

• Work with Development, Commercial, and other functions for vendor sourcing, RFP generation, assessments and selection, agreement negotiation, and performance management.
• Guide users and vendors to follow the procure-to-pay process and minimize non-conformances (e.g., missing PO#s).
• Lead timely resolution of procure-to-pay issues with Development/Commercial and vendors.
• Manage vendor performance, ensuring adherence to executed agreements and driving improvement actions.
• Serve as Procurement lead in joint operations reviews and governance meetings to ensure contracts are followed, risks are managed, and vendor relationships are optimized.
• Document, monitor, and report vendor savings and other Procurement KPIs.
• Use competitive and market data to support effective negotiation outcomes.
• Provide benchmarking and subject matter expertise; recommend spend behavior.
• Drive Procurement strategy.
• (If applicable) Lead direct reports with goal setting, growth planning, policy adherence, training compliance, and ongoing feedback.

Compensation / Benefits

• Salary range: $159,000–$207,000.
