Job summary

Alector in South San Francisco seeks an Associate Director, Project Management to shape development strategy for neurodegenerative programs and drive disciplined execution across discovery through clinical development.

You will lead cross-functional teams, align priorities, manage integrated project plans, and govern projects with timely decisions and quality deliverables. The role emphasizes embracing AI tools and LLMs to improve planning and collaboration in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a scientific discipline; PMP certification preferred
• At least 8 years in biotech/pharma with 3+ years in project management for drug development
• Strong understanding of drug development from discovery to clinical development, including preclinical/CMC/IND-enabling programs

Responsibilities

• Partner with Head of Clinical Development to develop and execute integrated global project strategy
• Lead cross-functional teams to make informed decisions and maintain proactive communication
• Design, develop, and manage integrated project plans spanning discovery through clinical development
• Coordinate activities across Biology, Chemistry, DMPK, In Vivo Pharmacology, Toxicology, Formulation/CMC, Clinical, Regulatory, Biometrics
• Lead project governance meetings, document decisions, track actions, and ensure timely deliverables
• Champion adoption of AI technologies to improve planning, decision-making, and efficiency
