Rezolute is a late-stage rare disease company focused on significantly improving outcomes for individuals with hypoglycemia caused by hyperinsulinism (HI). Our antibody therapy, RZ358 (ersodetug), is designed to treat all forms of HI and has shown substantial benefit in clinical trials and real-world use for the treatment of congenital hyperinsulinism (cHI) and tumor hyperinsulinism (tumorHI).

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Patient Affairs will play a pivotal role in engaging and supporting rare disease communities by fostering meaningful relationships with patients, caregivers, advocacy organizations, and other stakeholders. This position ensures that patient voices are integrated into Rezolute’s strategies, clinical programs, and decision-making processes, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and access to therapies.

As the Associate Director Patient Affairs, you will play a key role not only in shaping strategic initiatives and ensuring their seamless execution through effective project management and passionate effort. You’ll ensure that patient perspectives are not only included but also serve as the driving force behind our efforts. As a trusted partner, you’ll work alongside cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver strategic, creative solutions that help bring our innovative therapies to patients in a manner that the communities we serve feel heard and supported.

Patient Advocacy and Engagement

  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with patients, caregivers, and patient advocacy organizations in rare disease communities.
  • Collaborate with advocacy groups to understand patient needs, align on priorities, and execute joint initiatives.
  • Represent the company at patient-focused events, conferences, and forums to strengthen its presence and credibility within the rare disease ecosystem.

Patient Insights and Integration

  • Act as a conduit for patient insights, ensuring the patient perspective is integrated into drug development, clinical trials, and lifecycle management.
  • Work cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, and Commercial teams to incorporate patient feedback into trial design, recruitment, and marketing strategies.
  • Lead the planning and execution of patient advisory boards, focus groups, and other engagement events.
  • Support the integration of real-world patient experiences into evidence generation and publication activities.

Program Development and Execution

  • Lead the development and implementation of patient-centric initiatives, including education programs, support services, and awareness campaigns.
  • Partner with market access team to provide insights in the development of patient assistance programs to ensure early, equitable access to our therapies.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient needs, satisfaction, and feedback to continuously improve patient affairs engagement efforts.

Compliance And Ethical Standards

  • Ensure all patient engagement activities comply with regulatory guidelines, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain transparency in all interactions with patient groups and uphold trust and integrity in the rare disease community.

Metrics And Reporting

  • Define, report and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of patient-focused initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates to Head of Medical & Patient Affairs on progress, challenges, and opportunities within the patient affairs domain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, public health, communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in patient affairs, advocacy, or a related role in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in engaging with patient advocacy organizations and building community partnerships.
  • Thorough knowledge and practical experience in the appropriate, rare disease-specific engagement activities and strategies across the stages of the drug development lifecycle.

Skills And Competencies

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse audiences.
  • Passion for Advocacy: A deep commitment to ensuring the patient voice is heard and that advocacy is integrated into every aspect of drug development and delivery
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for patient-centered approaches and innovative solutions.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, EMA) and compliance considerations related to patient engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Willingness to travel (20-40%) to attend conferences, meetings, and community events as required.

Rezolute (RZLT) currently anticipates the base salary for the Associate Director Patient Affairs role could range from $200,000 to $240,000 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s geographical location and their qualifications for the role, including education and experience. This position will also be eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan (depending, in part, on company and individual performance and at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis). The compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described based on current market survey data and the qualifications, education, experience and geographical location of the selected candidate.
