SUMMARY

The Operations Associate Director supports the NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs by overseeing the day-to-day business operations of the DC office including accounting, office procedures, oversight of administrative staff and interns, event planning, and coordination with Denver office counterparts to facilitate the needs of the DC Policy team. This role also supports and assists the PLC Executive Director in communicating with PLC affiliates and managing the day-to-day business operations of the Public Lands Council (PLC)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Supports Government Affairs team and coordinates with Governance team on administration of the NCBA Policy Books.
  • Works with NCBA VP of Government Affairs and Office Manager to ensure that all DC office vendor contracts, staff expenses, and services are implemented effectively and processed in a timely manner.
  • Work with NCBA and PLC accounting staff to prepare and distribute yearly PLC affiliate dues invoices, process officer and staff expense reports, and other financial transactions.
  • Assist in planning national PLC meetings including logistics, budget, sponsorships, and agenda.
  • Serves as a point of contact for NCBA Meetings team to coordinate DC office events, as well as Government Affairs team scheduling and participation during national NCBA conventions and meetings.
  • Supports the Vice President of Government Affairs and PLC Executive Director, and other staff in managing travel, speaking engagements, scheduling, and other functions as needed.
  • Assist the PLC Executive Director with the administration of the contracting and sponsorships.
  • Actively participatein staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues in the office.
  • Occasional business travel and extended work hours required.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION -Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • EXPERIENCETwo years of relevant experience required.Working knowledge of, and/or experience in, western livestock/agriculture industries preferred.

  • SKILLS- Candidate should possess strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Candidate should have strong computer skills: word processing (Microsoft Word), Power Point, Publisher, and Excel experience are important. Web posting and editing skills are a plus.
