Talladega College, ranked the #1 Top Value School in the South by U.S. News & World Report, is seeking an Associate Director of Financial Aid. The Associate Director reports to the Director of Financial Aid in the Enrollment Services division.
Description
1. Financial Aid Processing - 60% of time
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations and how they apply in the context of enrolling at Talladega College.
- Analyze financial aid application data, create and renew financial aid awards and modify financial aid packages based on changes; communicate changes in eligibility to students and parents.
- Transmit and monitor Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs), and monitor ISIR transactions and changes to ensure federal compliance standards are being met.
- Monitor and request draw down of federal loan, Pell grant and SEOG amounts in collaboration with Business Office staff.
- Handle inquiries and requests from Federal. State, or other constituents for renewals and requested documents.
- Training office staff on federal aid and compliance
2. Counsel students and families - 35% of time
- Counsel students and families in person, in writing and over the phone about the financial aid process, award packages, billing statements, budgeting, and the financial impact of changing enrollment.
- Lead financial literacy events.
- Be conversant in services, resources and policies available across campus.
3. Advocacy, committees, collaboration, and general office participation - 5% of time
- Attend departmental and divisional meetings; serve on various committees;
- partake in financial aid advocacy or professional development organizations.
4. Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community
5. Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle
6. Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Associate Director:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree Preferred
- Experience: 5+ years of financial aid experience
- Ideally, experience using PowerFAIDS, FSA Partner, and other aid processing systems
Specific Job Duties
- Office operations in the absence of the Director of Financial Aid
- Processing ISIRs, corrections, originations, and disbursements
- Uploading COD Response files
- Satisfactory Academic Process (SAP) monitoring and implementation
- Providing technical assistance for aid processing systems as necessary
- Processing the financial aid portion of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) report
- Reporting the Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP) report
- Processing Professional Judgements and Unusual Enrollment History (UEH)
- Monitoring and processing Return to Title IV (R2T4)
- Maintain R2T4 paperwork and website information
- Notifying affected students of a completed R2T4
- Processing Anticipated Aid reports at the beginning of each semester
- Processing ad hoc reports for administrative usage as necessary
- Being first level of handling escalated student and parent calls
- Processing external agency requests for student verification
- Assuring accuracy of the financial aid information listed on my.talladega.edu
- Assuring that electronic forms and links are updated each academic year
- Assisting with reconciliation process as directed
- Overseeing FAO staff training
- Submitting VA certifications and monitoring VA eligible courses for compliance
- Providing excellent, professional customer service
- Completing any other projects as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid
