Job SummaryResponsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of the assigned retail and/or residential dining operations on a specific campus and/or location. Responsible for multiple unique retail food service and or residential dining locations, which may include national-brand franchises, KSU internal brands, and University-managed third-party operations.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Directly supervises assigned staff with direct responsibility for hiring, coaching, performance management, and annual reviews
2. Provides second level oversight of non-leadership staff and student assistant positions
3. Ensures compliance with university and/or franchise training requirements and maintains records of current documentation
4. Responsible for ensuring excellent customer service
5. Develops and supports all customer service and employee engagement initiatives
6. Effectively manages and adheres to KSU Dining systems and procedures for the ordering, receiving, storing, preparing, serving and selling of food and related products
7. Leadership in new concept creation, as well as promotional menu development and execution
8. Creates and maintains a safe and sanitary work environment and ensures requirements for appropriate sanitation and safety levels are met
9. Consistently meets sales and revenue targets, effectively manages food and labor costs so that budget requirements are met or exceeded
10. Assists in assigned location¿s forecasting and accounting processes
11. Conducts and oversees weekly and month-end inventory and properly maintains records to comply with University and BOR rules, regulations and standards
12. Serves as main point of contact for, and maintains relationships with, national franchise contacts, vendors, and key service users
13. Maintains brand compliance and coordinates marketing activities and promotions for assigned location(s)
14. Serves as main point of contact with Campus Services¿ Marketing in developing and implementing marketing strategies across assigned retail and/or residential dining locations
15. Oversees the relationship between KSU Dining and University Stores in collaborative operations
Required QualificationsEducational Requirements
Associate's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Four (4) years of related experience at a manager level or higher in a food service establishment
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Manager ServSafe Certification
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in a Higher Education food service setting
Previous experience with oversight of multiple concepts
ABILITIES
Able to communicate with a variety of levels of internal and external customers
Able to coordinate activities with other internal departments and participates in management team meetings
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Proficient in HAACP Standards
Skilled in critical thinking, relationship building and customer service
Must be a self-starter, work independently with low supervision
Management, leadership and mentoring skills
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
