Job description

Associate Director of Development (SPP, MISO, PJM)


Location: Remote within Mountain or Central time zones

Travel: up to 35%


The Role: This person will be responsible for maturing development of our client's project pipeline in the Central and Eastern US. They will play a key role in the overall strategy, direction, and execution of projects in their region and drive greenfield project development, working closely with the M&A team to diligence and acquire development-stage projects.


Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the development of storage projects from site selection through notice to proceed, coordinating closely with other teams to ensure all issues are vetted and resolved.
  2. Work with market analysis, EPC, M&A, finance, and origination teams to identify the most promising locations for battery storage.
  3. Lead the due diligence of real estate, permitting, and other development-related aspects of potential acquisitions.
  4. Contribute to the overall market strategy and execution plans for the region.
  5. Manage relationships with local developers, landowners, permitting authorities, grid operators, regulators, and other relevant stakeholders.
  6. Manage development budget and schedules and mentor junior development team members.

Qualifications:
  • Must have utility scale project development experience in MISO and/or PJM and understand the queues.
  • 6-10 years of prior work experience in power project development, prior battery storage experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in energy project development in SPP, PJM, and/or MISO.
  • Solid understanding of project-level financial modeling, and NPV/IRR analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree a plus.
  • Integrity, humility, and respect for others.
  • Proven ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and controls.
  • Leadership experience, or the desire to lead, train and mentor other developers.
