Departmental Overview

UDAR increases support for UC Berkeley through communications, outreach, and fundraising. The Student Experience & Diversity (SED) Philanthropy program focuses on building partnerships to support student access, belonging, and success, primarily raising major gifts for student aid and equity programs.

Position Overview

The Associate Director of Development is a Bay Area-based role within the SED team, responsible for managing a donor portfolio, planning fundraising campaigns, and supporting student success initiatives. The role involves raising over $1M annually and may include leading events and serving on committees.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects for gifts supporting the student experience.
  • Lead large-scale fundraising campaigns with multiple components.
  • Develop expertise in student programs and fundraising strategies.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for fundraising initiatives.
  • Achieve fundraising goals, including raising over $1M annually.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience in advanced fundraising, capable of raising $1M+ annually.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a large higher education or non-profit environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of student experience issues in higher education.
Salary & Benefits

The salary range is $120,000 - $130,000, with full UC benefits. Position is full-time, exempt, and based in the Bay Area with remote work options.

Other Information
  • Remote work arrangements are flexible.
  • Review begins June 15, 2025, with an expected start in September 2025.
  • Not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
