I Have A Dream Foundation of Boulder County seeks an Associate Director of Development to lead fundraising strategy and strengthen donor relations. You will cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts, manage a donor portfolio, and collaborate with the CEO and Board to meet annual and long-term fundraising goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in fundraising or sales with major gift cultivation and solicitation experience.
  • Proven ability to build donor relationships and manage the full solicitation cycle.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM databases (Salesforce preferred).

Associate Director of Development

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Development plays a key leadership role in advancing IHDF's fundraising strategy and strengthening relationships with individual, corporate, and community donors. Working closely with the Director of Development and CEO, this position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors; managing a portfolio of major gift prospects; supervising individuals; developing donor engagement strategies; and helping achieve annual and long-term fundraising goals. This position reports to the Director of Development.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Gifts & Donor Relations
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, developing individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts ranging from approximately $3,000 to $100,000+, with responsibility for achieving established annual revenue goals.
  • Build meaningful, long-term donor relationships through meetings, site visits, personalized communications, events, and other engagement opportunities.
  • Partner with the CEO, Director of Development, and Board members on major gift strategies, donor meetings, solicitations, and stewardship.
  • Grow planned giving, endowment, giving circles, and other long-term donor engagement opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to strengthen donor retention, renewals, upgrades, and movement through the donor pipeline.
Development Strategy & Operations
  • Partner with the Director of Development to implement annual fundraising strategies, goals, and donor engagement plans.
  • Maintain accurate donor and prospect information in Salesforce, including contacts, moves management, pledges, gifts, and stewardship activities.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and use fundraising data to evaluate progress, identify opportunities, and inform strategy.
  • Ensure timely and meaningful donor acknowledgment, recognition, reporting, and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with development and communications staff to create compelling donor communications and impact stories.
Events & Community Engagement
  • Support IHDF's signature fundraising and donor engagement events, including the Annual Luncheon, Golf Tournament, Holiday Dreams, and donor appreciation activities.
  • Develop strategies for engaging donors and prospects before, during, and after events.
  • Represent IHDF with donors, businesses, community partners, and other stakeholders throughout Boulder County.
  • Support Board members and volunteer leaders in donor cultivation and fundraising efforts.
Team Leadership & Development Operations
  • Supervise and mentor development personnel, overseeing goal setting and performance.
  • Partner with the Director of Development on fundraising strategies and departmental priorities.
  • Manage staff workflows and guide advancement efforts across special events and stewardship.
  • Track fundraising metrics to evaluate progress and refine approaches.
  • Ensure alignment across Development, Communications, Finance, and leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in fundraising or sales, with proven major gift cultivation and solicitation experience.
  • Proven ability to build donor relationships and manage the full solicitation cycle.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM databases (Salesforce preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of meeting revenue goals and deadlines.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and collaborative team player.
  • Knowledge of Boulder County philanthropy preferred.
  • Commitment to IHDF's mission and equity-centered practices.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend events or donor meetings.
  • Local travel required.
  • Ability to perform standard desk work and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION
  • Salary Range: $60,000-$72,000 annually
