Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a seasoned Competitive Intelligence professional in Waltham, MA to drive CI for pipeline programs. You will monitor competitors, develop CI plans in Excel, and create coverage summaries for major medical conferences, attending events to deliver timely updates to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech competitive intelligence, strategy, consulting, equity research, or related field.
  • Proficient in CI tools for data-driven decision making.
  • Experience managing CI vendors/partners with quality and timeliness.
  • Ability to synthesize primary/secondary CI into clear, actionable implications.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills; influence across functions.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication; advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel 4–6 conferences per year in the US/Europe.
  • Experience with AI tools is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to New Product Planning with disease-area opportunity assessments and strategic recommendations.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research and synthesize data into actionable insights.
  • Develop landscape analyses, SWOTs, and forecasts to inform strategy.
  • Partner with business development on licensing diligence via competitive analyses.
  • Communicate insights through executive-ready presentations and deliverables.
  • Oversee management of external vendors and consultants.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Support competitive intelligence (CI) activities for pipeline programs, monitoring competitor pipelines, clinical/regulatory developments, commercial activity, business development, and market trends.
  • Develop CI planners (Excel) and coverage summaries (PowerPoint) for medical conferences.
  • Attend conferences; share timely, relevant CI updates with key stakeholders.
  • Produce post-conference summary reports.
  • Contribute to New Product Planning, including disease-area opportunity assessments, evaluation of emerging mechanisms/technologies, and development of strategic recommendations for pipeline and portfolio decisions.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research; synthesize emerging data into timely, actionable competitive insights.
  • Develop competitive and market assessments (landscape analyses, TPP benchmarking, SWOTs, opportunity assessments, forecasts) to inform strategy.
  • Partner with business development on licensing diligence via competitive, market, epidemiological, and forecasting analyses.
  • Communicate insights via clear, concise, executive-ready presentations and deliverables.
  • Oversee management of external vendors and consultants.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or related field required; advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, MS, or MBA) preferred.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech competitive intelligence, strategy, consulting, equity research, or closely related field.
  • Proficient in CI tools for data-driven decision making.
  • Experience managing CI vendors/partners (quality, timeliness, alignment to strategic goals).
  • Ability to synthesize primary/secondary CI into clear, actionable implications.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills; influence across functions.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication; advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to navigate fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Travel as needed (typically 4–6 conferences/year in the U.S. and Europe).
  • Experience with AI tools is an advantage.
Benefits/Compensation
  • Eligible for competitive compensation and benefits package; base salary range: $174,200–$205,000.
  • Total rewards include annual performance bonus, equity, full range of benefits, and other incentive compensation plans.
