Job Description:

The Associate Director, Incentive Compensation (IC) oversees the incentive programs for all US Oncology and Neuroscience Brands, in addition to their Field targeting and alignment. This role manages the process of designing incentive programs and is directly responsible for the day-to-day implementation and administration of these programs. The Associate Director, Incentive Compensation and Field Alignment collaborates with brand and field leadership to design rewards that maximize the performance of field teams in alignment with company strategy.


The Associate Director, Incentive Compensation must be able to work in a self-directed manner within a cross-functional team environment and coordinate and communicate with all stakeholders. A key aspect of this role is the ability to interact with and influence senior sales leaders and members of the North American Leadership Team (NALT), including the CFO, Head of Legal and Compliance, as well as BU Leads.


This role will leverage content knowledge when completing analytics requests and enable the business organization to drive optimal decisions on investments. This role will report to the Operations and Field Enablement Lead within the Business Operations & Strategy (BOS) Organization.

Main Responsibilities & Job Expectations

  • Establish and maintain strategic and trusting relationships with cross-functional leaders, guiding and influencing business strategies, activities, and decisions. Building confidence with all members of NALT is key to success in this role.
  • Lead and influence the Oncology and Neuroscience IC Steering Committee meetings made up of the North America Leadership Team and the Incentive Compensation Advisory Board (ICAB) made up of various members and levels of the field team.
  • Lead field targeting and alignment process every 6 months. Partner with Field Leadership to ensure appropriate work index for all field territories.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of various incentive compensation plans including but not limited to goal, commission, MBO, and relative rank plans.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends in IC strategy, field targeting and alignment.
  • Drive innovation to deliver top-performing IC Plans that excite and engage the field while driving behaviors to help achieve our SIs and overall objectives
  • Manage the IC vendor to execute all Incentive Compensation activities – plan design, goal setting, IC administration (home office and field reporting processing), ranking reports, IC scorecard, IC payouts, and sales reporting functions – drawing on business analytics partners and external vendors when necessary.
  • Manage internal stakeholders and vendors to meet all timelines related to field alignment, IC plan, IC goal and IC payouts.
  • Proactively establish metrics and KPIs to determine and prioritize areas of opportunities for improving IC processes and managing key supplier relationships.
  • Provide consulting to stakeholders, including BU and Sales and Marketing leads, on IC best practices, customized solutions to meet business needs, and act as a thought leader in all IC-related meetings.
  • Develop appropriate communication tools for the field to provide a comprehensive understanding of how their incentive plans and award programs work.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff.

Knowledge, Abilities & Experience

Education / Certifications:

  • BA.BS degree in related field required; advanced degree preferred

Experience:

  • 6+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech or life sciences experience preferred
  • 4+ years of experience specific to incentive compensation design or sales operations preferred, broad commercial operations are a plus
  • Strong experience in quantitative modeling methods and goal-setting techniques (patient-based, Rx-based, and trend-based etc).
  • Broad commercial operations experience is a plus with an entrepreneurial mindset

Key Technical Competencies Required

  • Ability to accurately assess and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information, conclude, and present solutions to senior leadership
  • Understanding of the unique dynamics of IC plans and creating customized IC plans supported by modeling/analytics/simulations for all products
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and the ability to constructively challenge and influence the decision-making process
  • Must be well-organized with excellent time management skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to effectively translate overall strategies into actionable operational plans and assure implementation
  • Ability to collaborate with, educate, inform, and influence senior leaders on a regular basis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and experience in working with elaborate spreadsheets. Strong PowerPoint experience.
  • Strong time management and project management skills
  • Must have excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, especially MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Access and Word

The annual base salary range for this position is $171,900 - $210,000

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentives program. The pay range displayed above is the range of base pay compensation within which Ipsen expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and demonstrated skills.
