BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. is seeking an Associate Director of Government Pricing (GP) to lead pricing strategy and ensure full compliance with U.S. pricing regulations.

You will advise cross-functional teams on downstream impacts of commercial decisions, shaping pricing metrics and obligations. This role reports to the Government Pricing Director and requires deep technical GP expertise and business acumen.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of pricing, finance, contracting, or related analytical function in pharma/biotech.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct government pricing experience.
  • Deep expertise in AMP, ASP, Best Price, PHS, and FSS/VA government pricing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with third-party vendors and rebate processing systems.
  • Familiarity with state Medicaid operations is a plus.
  • Experience presenting analyses to senior executives.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and governance forums.

Responsibilities

  • Support Government Pricing Director in pricing calculations, submissions, and compliance (AMP, ASP, Best Price, PHS, FSS/VA).
  • Guide government contracting processes aligning with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic guidance on pricing implications of commercial contracting decisions.
  • Coordinate with Medicaid, TRICARE, and Medicare Part D rebate processing vendors.
  • Collaborate with SOX audit teams on control and compliance activities.
  • Partner with Customer Operations and Order-to-Cash to maintain data integrity.

Position Summary

The Associate Director, Government Pricing (GP) is a strategic and operational leader responsible for ensuring full compliance with U.S. government pricing regulations while shaping pricing strategy across the organization. This role serves as a key subject matter expert, advising cross-functional stakeholders on the downstream impact of commercial decisions on government pricing metrics and obligations. The role reports to Government Pricing Director. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in government pricing with strong business acumen, enabling them to influence strategy, optimize processes, and ensure accurate and compliant reporting in a complex and evolving regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Government Pricing Director for all activities related to:
  • Government pricing calculations, submissions, and compliance, including AMP, ASP, Best Price, PHS, and FSS/VA
  • Government contracting processes and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements
  • Strategic guidance on the government pricing implications of commercial contracting decisions
  • Third-party vendor management supporting Medicaid, TRICARE, and Medicare Part D rebate processing
  • Internal & external audit teams to complete SOX control and other audit-related activities
  • Partner with Customer Operations and Order-to-Cash teams to maintain accurate class of trade and membership data
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in collaboration with Government Affairs; assess and communicate potential business impact
  • Support financial planning by advising on gross-to-net assumptions and pricing impacts
  • Identify and implement process improvements, systems enhancements, and automation opportunities to strengthen compliance and operational efficiency
Candidate Profile
Experience & Expertise
  • 10+ years of experience in pricing, finance, contracting, or a related analytical function within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Minimum 5 years of direct, hands-on government pricing experience
  • Deep expertise in U.S. government pricing methodologies, including AMP, ASP, Best Price, PHS, and FSS/VA
  • Strong understanding of current regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks
  • Experience working with third-party vendors and rebate processing systems

The salary range for this position is: $128,520 to $176,715. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
