Purpose:

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting an Associate Director, Global Real-World Evidence, Immunology, located in Raritan, NJ. In this position, the Associate Director, Global Real-World Evidence, Immunology, will support the development and execution of global RWE strategies and high-priority evidence-generation programs across the Immunology portfolio. Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Global Real-World Evidence, Immunology, this individual will work under the strategic guidance of the Global RWE Disease Leads to help translate asset- and disease-area evidence priorities into timely, high-quality RWE studies and deliverables that support market shaping, medical adoption, access, and evidence-based decision‑making.

You will be responsible for:

  • The Associate Director will partner closely with RWE Researchers, Programmers in the GRWE Analytic Hub, cross-functional collaborators, regional and local evidence-generation teams, and external vendors to ensure scientific rigor, operational excellence, and effective dissemination of RWE.
  • This individual will also support the Disease Leads in stakeholder management across IEGP, long-range Worldwide RWE Roadmap development, RWE Working Groups, and project execution forums.
Other key responsibilities are as follows:
  • Support the Global RWE Disease Lead in developing and maintaining Integrated Evidence Generation Plans and long-range Worldwide RWE Roadmaps for assigned disease areas and assets, ensuring alignment with Global Core Asset Strategy, evidence gaps, regional priorities, and key stakeholder needs.
  • Drive high-quality execution of priority RWE studies and evidence-generation projects under the strategic guidance of the Disease Lead, ensuring timely delivery, scientific rigor, operational excellence, and appropriate interpretation and dissemination of study outputs to maximize the impact of RWE.
  • Collaborate closely with RWE Researchers, Programmers in the GRWE Analytic Hub, cross-functional partners, regional and local evidence-generation teams, and external vendors to translate study concepts into protocols, analyses, deliverables, publications, and other evidence-dissemination materials.
  • Support the Disease Lead in global and regional stakeholder management across cross-functional workstreams, RWE Working Groups, Evidence Labs, and project execution forums.
  • Serve as a methodology subject matter expert in assigned cross-functional workstreams, providing scientific input on real-world data sources, observational study designs, analytic approaches, fit-for-purpose evidence methods, and best practices to strengthen scientific excellence.
  • Analyze, interpret, and synthesize real-world data, literature, competitive evidence, and stakeholder insights to inform evidence-gap assessments, strategic trade-off discussions, urgent business requests, and cross-functional decision‑making.
  • Contribute to GRWE operational governance, standards, processes, and operating models by supporting prioritization, resource planning, deliverable tracking, review processes, vendor oversight, and consistency across disease- and asset-level RWE activities.
  • Ensure assigned RWE activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory, legal, privacy, publication, and commercial requirements while upholding high standards for scientific integrity, responsible communication, and evidence dissemination.
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • An advanced degree in epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, health economics and outcomes research, public health, biostatistics, health policy, health services research, or a related field is required; a PhD is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, consulting, academic, or healthcare environment is required, with experience in real-world evidence, epidemiology, outcomes research, medical affairs, market access, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the design and execution of RWE studies, including observational studies, retrospective database analyses, evidence synthesis, protocol development, analytic planning, interpretation of results, and scientific dissemination.
  • Experience with global, multi-country RWE studies is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of real‑world data sources and fit‑for‑purpose RWE methods is required, including claims databases, electronic health records, registries, chart reviews, and other healthcare data sources.
  • Ability to provide methodological input on observational study design, analytic approaches, bias mitigation, data interpretation, and communication of RWE findings to technical and non‑technical audiences is required.
  • Experience collaborating with programmers, statisticians, epidemiologists, RWE researchers, cross‑functional partners, and external vendors to execute data‑driven research projects is required; hands‑on experience with SAS, R, Python, or other statistical programming tools is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills are required, including the ability to manage timelines, coordinate deliverables, track decisions and actions, support governance processes, and drive execution in a matrixed global environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and scientific writing skills are required, with the ability to translate complex research concepts and data‑driven insights into clear messages for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience contributing to publications, congress presentations, internal evidence-generation deliverables, or other scientific communication outputs is required; Immunology experience is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the global healthcare, reimbursement, payer, medical affairs, and evidence‑generation environment is preferred, particularly as it relates to Immunology product strategy and stakeholder evidence needs.
  • This position is located in Raritan, NJ, and will require approximately 15% travel, primarily domestic with some international travel as needed.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000 and $235,750 USD.
