The Program Manager will also supervise two program staff, work studies and temporary employees.

Job Summary
Under general guidance of the Director, the Associate Director provides administrative management of the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Northwestern University. Responsibilities include managing business administration, program administration, and event planning. More specifically the Program Manager will oversee: budget preparation and accounting, day-to-day office operations, financial matters, customer service and program events and operations. The Program Manager will also supervise two program staff, work studies and temporary employees.
Oversees the effective, compliant, & efficient daily management of all operational, financial, & business functions in support of the program/project & in coordination with central McCormick offices such as HR, Budget, Facilities, IT, & Faculty Affairs. Represents program/project on internal & external business affairs & is viewed as an expert resource regarding program/project administrative affairs.

Specific Responsibilities
Administration
- Oversees & ensures that day-to-day operations are appropriately managed, efficient and effective.
- Operationalizes goals & objectives; ensures that resources are created or obtained.
- Manages customer service; creates associated practices & procedures & metrics to measure success.
- Includes oversight of Farley email account
- Analyzes data & recommends & implements changes & improvement to better ensure attainment of mission.
- Collaborates with Farley staff and McCormick admin to manage logistics requirements, including facilities, venue, scheduling, technology, instruction, catering, etc.
- Oversees documentation of agreements between NU and partner institutions, ensuring that agreements are complete and reviewed by all necessary NU officials.
Budgets & Financial
- Works with Financial Coordinator to ensure that the program/project meets associated revenue & expense goals.
- In collaboration with Director and Financial Coordinator:
- Develops and implements ideas for improving business processes and increasing program/project revenues and margins.
- Plans & manages complex budget(s) which fund strategic mission including financial sustainability & enhancement models.
- Plans & implements annual budget process.
- Oversee all daily, monthly & annual financial activities including transactions, analysis, payroll, reconciliation & reporting.
- Approves funds reallocation within budget as necessary & appropriate.
- Oversees NUvention team budgets
Evaluation
- Oversees development & implementation of evaluation processes, quantitative & qualitative measurements that ensure that program/project benchmarks are successfully attained and communicated in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manages evaluation processes; recommends & implements changes for enhancement; monitors effectiveness through follow-up evaluation studies.
- Collaborates with internal/external resources to develop meaningful outcome measurements and methods of program/project evaluation that will lead to enhancement.
Events
- In collaboration with program coordinator:
- Manages programming, such as educational, student, alumni, workshops, meetings, including speakers, agendas, etc.
- Manages planning and arrangement of meetings, workshops, events, etc. designed to exchange information, promote research objectives, and to build internal and external relationships within NU.
- manages event details including communication, venues, presenters, travel arrangements, materials, refreshments and technology are arranged and completed in an appropriate and timely manner.
Faculty Support
- In collaboration with Director and McCormick admin, manages faculty administrative tasks (appointments, scheduling), as well as general communications and guidelines, ensuring optimal faculty support for full-timers and adjuncts.
Grants & Contracts
- Manages professional research administration support staff in order to facilitate & enhance all administrative grant processes & related compliance.
- Responsible for pre- & post-award administration completed by research administrators.
- Assists with developing and writing grant proposals
- Build relationships with Principal Investigators (PIs) & NU research associated offices
- Transfers knowledge & advice on research policy & procedure.
Supervision
- Supervises 2 staff, work study students and teaching assistants.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- 2 years program/project administration or other relevant experience.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
- Effective leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to motivate.
- Administrative excellence, budget and financial management experience, solid project management skills.
- Attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
- 5+ years work experience
- Previous administrative experience in a university setting.
- Working knowledge of university software and systems (MYHR, NUFinancials, Tableau, etc.)
Target hiring range for this position will be between $63,079-$88,705 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
