Overview

Position Description

The Associate Director (the "Associate Director") acts as a vital teammate to the Managing Director of Capital Markets to: identify, develop and strengthen relationships among the Bank's peer banking and financial institutions; identify and pursue financing transactions that meet the underwriting criteria of the Bank; present potential transactions to the Bank in a professional manner; and to assist in the syndication of transactions to manage exposure and generate fee income. The Associate Director will be expected to have sufficient credit skills and background to be able to source transactions that fit the parameters of the Bank and to be able to advocate internally with senior credit and underwriting officers of the Bank. In addition, familiarity with equipment financing documentation, operations and pricing is critical to the success of the position.

The Associate Director should be highly motivated to meet and exceed budget requirements and to have an adaptable personality to manage the intricacies of the position.

Position Accountabilities
  • Lead by example, with a proven record of supporting and enhancing a strong team
  • Support the implementation of the strategies, either generally or specific to a product or suite of products
  • Enhance the Bank's capabilities and competencies, as they relate to capital markets activities, balance sheet growth, and revenue diversification, syndication activities, public finance lending, buy/sell, or pricing/structuring activities
  • Provide support for product growth, in both income and assets, while meeting budget and other key performance indicators
  • Support the growth of the products, services and capabilities, with limited oversight from executive management
  • Maintain of product white papers (internal and external), FAQs and client material
  • Provide insight for products covered to internal stakeholders, Regional Directors and external clients
  • Partner with the Finance, Credit Administration and Operations to assure efficient portfolio construction, pricing vs. risk tradeoffs, revenue diversification, and implications to the Bank as a whole
  • Develop more junior associates' skills and support development, through coaching and mentoring
  • Support related merger and acquisition activities for specialty group or product covered, including due diligence and integration
Organizational Relationship

This position reports to a senior leader within Equipment Finance.

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics; MBA a plus
  • 6+ years' experience in middle market or corporate banking
  • 3+ years' experience in equipment finance, capital markets, or related space
  • Experience leading or supporting teams and individuals with highly technical or specialized roles

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of specialty revenue or lending products, including pricing/structuring
  • Developing business acumen along with the ability to understand and incorporate business initiatives into sound processes
  • Sound track record of regulatory, credit and risk management
  • Knowledge of accounting, economic and finance principles, as well as bank operations, products and services
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including advanced knowledge of financial management and analysis
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and prioritize a complete variety of incoming tasks with varied deadlines
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and communication skills

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
