Job Summary

The Associate Director, Data Policy Governance role is part of RBC's Enterprise Information Management Risk, a second line team within RBC's Group Risk Management. This role supports the Data Policy Governance lead in managing data-related policies and executing adherence reviews.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development and maintenance of data-related frameworks, policies, and standards for governing the firm's data.
  • Ensure alignment of data frameworks, policies, and standards with enterprise and operational risk management frameworks.
  • Maintain an inventory of data-related regulations, communications, and audit findings to support policy comprehensiveness.
  • Develop methodologies for monitoring policy compliance.
  • Assist in US regional reporting on data risks and key risk indicators.
  • Participate in forums discussing policy adoption, exception requests, and risk acceptances.
Qualifications

Must have:

  • An undergraduate degree and experience in second-line governance or compliance management related to data in financial services or a regulated industry.
  • Experience in developing and implementing data management frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Experience with regulatory research and analysis.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Ability to identify stakeholder information and communication needs.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in a matrix environment within a large, publicly traded corporation.
  • Strategic thinking and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of data, privacy, compliance, and regulatory risk management in a regulated industry.
