Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a RTX business, seeks an Associate Director & Counsel to lead transactional work and regulatory compliance for Commercial Engines. You will negotiate complex agreements with customers and airframers worldwide, and advise on regulatory matters while coordinating with program partners.

The role requires significant travel and a strong executive presence to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced aerospace environment in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Qualifications

  • J.D. and at least 10 years of relevant legal experience are required.
  • At least 5+ years at a law firm with experience in commercial transactions, M&A, or related disputes.
  • Good standing with a state bar and timely in-house counsel registration.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to access necessary systems.

Responsibilities

We have an exciting hybrid opportunity for an Associate Director & Counsel for Pratt & Whitney’s Commercial Engines!! This business includes both the GTF and the mature engine platforms, including engines for the V2500, PW4000, PW2000, GP7000, JT8D, and Pratt & Whitney Power Systems model engine programs.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide transactional support across all aspects of the P&L, including negotiating complex commercial agreements with customers and airframers globally
  • Provide program support, advising on regulatory compliance and communications with customers, airframers, regulators, and program partners
  • Must have ability to travel to support business needs, including the ability for significant on-site presence in East Hartford, Connecticut
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) and 10+ years of relevant legal experience
  • 5+ years of legal experience at a law firm including experience with commercial transactions, M&A, or strong litigation experience resolving commercial disputes
  • Good standing with a state bar association and in-house counsel registration in a timely manner following hire
  • U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access certain necessary systems or sites

  • Strong leader and team player with excellent judgment and professional maturity
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, and provide guidance and practical solutions to cross-functional projects effectively and on time
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal daily supervision and to balance numerous priorities within compressed timeframes
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, in a fast-paced environment of rapidly changing demands

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
