Job summary

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles seeks an Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships to lead corporate membership sales, renewals, and activation across the Academy and Academy Museum. You will oversee strategy, staff development, and partner stewardship while producing compelling sales materials and briefs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years in nonprofit or for-profit partnerships, with a track record of working with notable brands and managing complex deals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the museum’s Corporate Membership program focusing on sales, renewals, and program execution; grow membership and secure significant partnerships.
  • Ensure a seamless sales/renewal process and a smooth post-sale activation.
  • Ensure fulfillment and tracking of membership, partnership, and contractual deliverables.
  • Spearhead internal processes, policies, and systems to streamline workflows and partner experiences.
  • Develop staff; set goals, mentor, and manage performance.
  • Produce sophisticated partnership materials (decks, proposals, wrap reports) and conduct research for briefs on brands and trends.
  • Develop a robust prospect pipeline and deliver sales reports with strategic insights.
  • Negotiate deal points, draft agreements, and respond to internal questions about deliverables.
  • Plan high-impact activities (tours and events) to deepen engagement with partners.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather information, finalize agreements, and activate partnerships.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and leverage data to identify growth opportunities.
  • Support other Corporate Partnerships activities and manage external agency outreach when needed.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and market developments to identify opportunities.

Summary/Objective:

The Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships plays a crucial role in the full cycle of corporate member and partner sales and management across the Academy and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The role is responsible for strategically cultivating and stewarding corporate members and partners to meet and exceed overall revenue goals and oversee benefit fulfillment and activation execution in tandem with the larger Corporate Partnerships team. The ideal candidate will have advanced ability in sales and business development; and excel in creating sales materials such as decks and proposals. They will also demonstrate exceptional ability to prioritize; ensure objectives are met with an elevated level of diligence; and know how to manage, develop, and motivate a team. In addition, the Associate Director will help lead cross-departmental collaboration and contribute to the strategic vision of the team in line with the organization’s mission and values.

Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Lead the museum’s Corporate Membership program with a focus on sales, renewals, and program execution. Lead the outreach and cultivation of select corporate prospects. Develop and implement plans for growing membership and securing and managing significant corporate partnerships.
  • Ensure a seamless experience for prospects during the sales/renewal process and a successful transition to post-sale/activation phases.
  • Ensure membership, partnership, and contractual deliverables are successfully fulfilled and tracked.
  • Spearhead the internal membership and partnership process, policies, procedures, operations, and systems to streamline workflows and ultimately making sure prospects and partners have a stellar experience at every phase.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing staff, including setting clear goals, providing mentorship, and managing performance. Proven ability to build a collaborative and high-performing team.
  • Produce sophisticated partnership sales materials such as custom decks, proposals, and wrap reports. Conduct thorough research to create detailed briefs on brand, industry, and partnership trends. Ideate innovatively and collaboratively when putting forth partnership opportunities.
  • Development of a robust prospect pipeline, ensuring high-quality leads are matched to available opportunities. Provide and create comprehensive sales reports with strategic insights and key metrics.
  • Negotiate partnership deal points, draft letter agreements utilizing a template, and create partnership deal summaries. Field internal questions and provide clarification on deliverables based on partnership agreements.
  • Plan and execute high-impact activities, including tours and events, to enhance engagement and build relationships.
  • Liaise closely with internal departments to gather information to inform sales materials, create materials, finalize letter agreements, create wrap reports, garner internal support of corporate partners and initiatives, and execute contractual deliverables and activations.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of client interactions and sales activities in the relationship database, leverage data to refine business strategies and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Support other Corporate Partnerships, Corporate Membership, Business Development, and Advancement efforts as needed and help manage external agency around outreach and sales initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to identify emerging opportunities for business growth and innovation.
Required Competencies:
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit or for-profit partnerships/sponsorships, integrated marketing, business development, and/or fundraising, with a successful record of working with notable brands and managing complex deals.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in supervising and mentoring staff.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience in using a relational database such as Salesforce.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking, and issuing information.
  • Outstanding organizational skills including self-management and team management. Must work independently, be proactive and flexible, and be able to anticipate needs.
  • Skilled in project management, including developing timelines, problem-solving, budget management, and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience closing five-figure and six-figure gifts, with multi-years deals a plus.
  • Knowledge of museum operations, event planning, graphic design, and/or film a plus.
