Job summary

Recursion is seeking an Associate Director in its early discovery team to lead computational biology efforts for oncology targets and therapeutics. You will mentor scientists, integrate large omics datasets, and advance target nomination with data-driven product strategies.

The role combines hands-on technical work with strategic leadership in a hybrid, Salt Lake City–based office environment, offering competitive salary and equity. A PhD and 3+ years biotech/pharma experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, cancer biology, immuno-oncology, etc., with strong computational focus.
• 3+ years biotech or pharma experience in early drug discovery (or 5+ years with MS).
• Domain expertise in oncology or immunological diseases.
• Strong programming in Python or R and ability to analyze complex biological data.
• Exceptional data visualization and leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive target discovery using Recursion’s platform to identify novel disease biology vulnerabilities.
• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and computational biologists.
• Pilot novel methods for target discovery and disease biology validation.
• Define criteria for target data packages and early patient population strategy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build data packages for milestones.
• Present data analyses to external decision makers.
