Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Director, Community Impact, to drive strategic initiatives within the Global Impact Investing and Giving (GIIG) pillar. You will coordinate across seven Community Impact Liaisons, manage grant review processes, and ensure compliant, non-duplicative activities that align with health access goals.

The role emphasizes influence over direct reporting, with a US-based footprint and travel up to 5–10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years in program operations or related field.
• Experience coordinating complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to influence across matrixed organizations without direct reports.
• Experience with grantmaking or grant review processes.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and compliance focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of initiatives identified by the Head of Global Community Impact and Engagement.
• Coordinate day-to-day program operations, milestones, issues, and deliverables.
• Manage grant review committee and grant application coordination.
• Monitor milestones, risks, budgets, and decisions for leadership visibility.
• Develop updates and recommendations based on activity and portfolio progress.
• Support monitoring, evaluation, and learning to improve programs.
• Collaborate with Communications and other stakeholders to share program impact.
