Job summary

Verizon is seeking an Associate Director to lead the Cloud Platform, Far Edge Planning. You’ll guide architectural strategy, deployment, and automation of vRAN and Cloud Infrastructure, coordinating with multiple vendors to deliver new network features and ensure reliability.

You will manage a high-performing technical team, align roadmaps, and drive AI-driven improvements across planning, engineering, and operations. This hybrid role offers collaboration across US hubs and executive visibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work or military experience, or training.
• Experience in Cloud Infrastructure, OpenShift (CaaS), and vRAN architecture, with experience in RHEL, Linux kernel fine‑tuning, and CaaS resource management.
• Experience in managing external technology relationships, leading high‑stakes escalations to meet aggressive delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

• Direct end-to-end strategy and deployment of Cloud-native RAN platforms across Far Edge nodes.
• Coordinate with partners (Samsung, Wind River, Ericsson, Red Hat) on roadmaps, deliverables, SLAs.
• Spearhead AI-driven tools and internal software to automate diagnostics and workflows.
• Drive vRAN roadmap planning and integration of new technologies while maintaining performance metrics.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration to troubleshoot production issues and maintain stability.
• Mentor team members and develop leads for workstreams.
• Lead high-stakes troubleshooting for production issues, including kernel crashes and driver conflicts.
• Identify opportunities for automation and drive operational efficiencies.
• Oversee incident management and ensure proper ticketing/escalation.
• Drive performance management and annual appraisals.
