The Software Engineering Technology Associate Director leads the Client Access core engineering team responsible for building, enhancing, and supporting the Raymond James digital client experience. This role partners with Product, Architecture, business stakeholders, and technology teams to translate strategic priorities into secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. The manager provides technical and people leadership, oversees delivery and application support, and helps resolve complex technology issues that require coordination across multiple levels of the organization.
This position follows our hybrid workstyle policy: expected to be in a Raymond James office location three days per week, with at least one of those days being a Monday or a Friday. Please note: This role is not eligible for Work Visa sponsorship, either currently or in the future.
Product, Architecture, business stakeholders, and other technology leaders to define requirements, establish priorities, evaluate solution options, and ensure end-to-end process and data integration. Direct projects and operational initiatives through the software development lifecycle, using Agile practices and measurable success criteria to manage scope, schedule, risk, quality, budget, and business outcomes. Oversee internally developed and vendor-provided solutions, including vendor selection and coordination, implementation planning, integration, performance management, and ongoing support. Manage workforce capacity, resource allocation, annual goals, and budgets; maintain consistent engineering processes, delivery standards, and team accountability. Promote sound engineering practices, continuous improvement, and innovation while remaining current on relevant technology, financial services, and industry trends. Lead, coach, and develop software engineers and technical leads; set clear expectations, provide timely feedback, support career development, and build a culture of trust, accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning. Attract, develop, and retain talent; support workforce and succession planning; and ensure the team has the skills and capacity needed to meet current and future business priorities. Establish operational ownership for production support, incident response, root-cause analysis, risk remediation, and service improvement, including participation in an on‑call rotation when required.
Software engineering principles, application architecture, system integration, and the software development lifecycle. Agile delivery practices, DevOps and release management concepts, production support, incident management, and continuous improvement. Enterprise technology governance, risk management, information security, and controls appropriate to financial services. Resource planning, budgeting, vendor management, and performance measurement. Modern digital platform concepts, including scalable services, APIs, cloud‑enabled technologies, observability, and resilient application design.
Leading engineering teams and delivering complex software initiatives involving both internally developed and vendor‑provided solutions. Translating business objectives into technical plans, delivery roadmaps, resource requirements, and measurable outcomes. Evaluating application design and architecture, identifying technical and operational risks, and guiding teams toward practical solutions. Applying Agile delivery practices and using metrics to improve delivery predictability, quality, and service reliability. Managing budgets, vendors, staffing, and competing priorities in a complex enterprise environment. Communicating clearly with technical and nontechnical audiences, influencing decisions, resolving conflict, and building consensus across teams.
Build and sustain a high‑performing engineering organization by attracting, developing, coaching, and retaining diverse talent. Set clear direction, establish high standards, delegate effectively, and hold individuals and teams accountable for measurable results. Build trusted partnerships across Product, Architecture, business, operations, risk, security, and vendor teams to achieve shared objectives. Use customer and business outcomes to guide priorities, decisions, processes, and service improvements. Lead organizational and technical change, encourage innovative problem‑solving, and adapt plans as customer, market, regulatory, and technology needs evolve. Communicate complex information in a clear and compelling manner that supports timely decisions and coordinated execution. Work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and occasionally support a non‑standard schedule, including nights, weekends, or on‑call responsibilities.
At least 7 years of relevant technology experience, including software development and people‑management or technical‑leadership experience; an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Experience leading the delivery and support of enterprise applications in a complex, regulated environment is preferred. Financial services experience, particularly with client‑facing digital platforms, is preferred. Education Bachelor’s (Required) Work Experience General Experience – 10 to 15 years, Manager Experience – 6 to 10 years Certifications Travel Less than 25% Workstyle Hybrid.
