Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking an Associate Director-Capital Infrastructure Projects to lead diverse utility-focused engagements across capital projects, engineering studies, and regulatory compliance. You will mentor teams, manage risks, and drive strategic advisory and technology transformation initiatives for electric and gas utilities in the Southwest.

You will collaborate with client stakeholders, develop innovative proposals, and ensure delivery excellence while traveling up to 25%.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagements.
  • Seven (7+) plus years’ post-graduation project management experience in the power utilities sector.
  • Experience across capital projects and project management life cycle beyond IT project management.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with stakeholder and financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor project teams and coordinate projects and workstreams.
  • Monitor and evaluate project activities and overall performance.
  • Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and strategy.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain project documentation and reports.
  • Oversee contracts and financials; report on KPIs.
  • Analyze project data to produce insights and optimize performance.
  • Identify issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Provide operational support and liaise with stakeholders.

Job Family:Capital Projects & Infrastructure Consulting, Management ConsultingTravel Required:Up to 25%Clearance Required:NoneWhat You Will Do:As an Associate Director-Capital Infrastructure Projects for a diverse portfolio of Investor-Owned and Public Utility projects, you would work directly with our Arizona Account Director to serve Utility clients in Arizona and the Southwest. Projects will range from major capital infrastructure, power generation, power transmission & distribution system related projects, and a range of power utility client internal projects within the desert southwest region.You would be joining a team that is passionate about delivering programs and innovation to solve our client's most pressing problems. The Associate Director-Capital Infrastructure Projects role requires an initiative-taking, driven professional with strong business acumen, a proven track record of success in leading project and program delivery teams withing the utilities industry, professional services experience, a solid understanding of utility business operations, and passion for execution and delivery excellence.As a key member of the Commercial Energy Providers project team, you will be responsible for managing teams that deliver strategic advisory, capital project delivery, engineering studies, financial management, grants management, regulatory compliance and monitoring, technology transformation, data analytics, and risk management consulting engagements. The role will have a primary focus on grid transformation, infrastructure expansion, technology innovation, sustainability and electrification for electric and gas utilities. In addition, you will work with client stakeholders to assess project performance, identify and manage risks and issues, keeping clients informed and proactively managing expectations.Responsibilities:Managing and mentoring project teams and coordinating projects and workstreamsManaging, monitoring and evaluating project activities and evaluating overall project(s) performanceContributing to project planning, budgeting, and overall strategyPreparing, reviewing, and maintaining project documentation and reportsOversee and maintaining project contracts and financialsEstablishing and reporting on key performance indicatorsAnalyzing project data and producing insights to optimize performanceIdentifying problems and shortfalls and proposing solutionsProviding operational support such as liaising with stakeholders, tracking timelines, etc.Support the development and rollout of our project management methodology, being a coach and change agent to encourage adoptionCoordinating with client account and project teams to develop innovate solutions and proposals to address client priorities and needsSupporting growth and client satisfaction within client account teamsMay include grants management complianceWhat You Will Need:Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagementsBachelor’s degree in business, engineering, economics, finance, public policy and/or related discipline AND SEVEN (7+) plus years’ post-graduation project management experience in the power utilities sector. Work experience in Solar (Commercial/Residential), Banking, Construction, Pharma, Manufacturing, Financial Services, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Defense or Aerospace does NOT count towards years of experience requirementKnowledgeable in all phases of the capital projects and project management life cycle beyond IT project managementOutstanding analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience with stakeholder and financial managementExcellent at visualizing project and program data, synthesizing insights, and making data informed decisionsAbility to assume ownership of significant portions of tasks while collaborating with a close-knit teamAbility to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlinesProposal writing experience including budget development and managing proposal timeline with a variety of subject matter experts providing inputDemonstrated attention to detailStrong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal skillsAn inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvementAbility to travelAbility to work onsite in Guidehouse Office or Client Office locationWhat Would Be Nice To Have:Master's degree in electrical or power systems engineering, business administration, or related disciplinePMP CertificationPost-graduation experience in the energy/utilities sector that includes capital projects and large engineering projectsAdvanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite products (Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint)Experience developing and delivering presentations to clients or executive audiences#LI-RE1The annual salary range for this position is $135,000.00-$225,000.00.
