Alumis Inc. is a precision medicines company with the mission to transform the lives of patients with autoimmune diseases. Despite treatment innovations over the past two decades, many patients with immunologic conditions still suffer. Our goal is to fundamentally change these outcomes.

We are seeking an Associate Director of Biostatistics to provide statistical expertise and operational support across various clinical activities, focusing on early and late-stage programs. The role involves serving as the lead study statistician, collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing CROs, and guiding junior team members.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to the design and analysis of early and late-phase clinical studies.
  2. Apply advanced statistical methods and data visualization to clinical trial data summaries and interpretations, including safety and efficacy analyses for regulatory submissions.
  3. Represent biostatistics on cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment of statistical approaches with study objectives.
  4. Provide input on study design, endpoint selection, and sample size planning.
  5. Draft statistical analysis plans (SAPs) and support interpretation of results.
  6. Ensure quality and accuracy of statistical deliverables by generating or reviewing and validating them, whether produced internally or by CROs.
  7. Manage CROs and mentor junior staff or contractors.
Education

The ideal candidate:

  • Holds a Ph.D. in Biostatistics with 6+ years of industry experience, or a Master’s with 8+ years.
Experience
  • Strong foundation in clinical trial design, statistical analysis, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience with publication work and analysis of real-world data is preferred.
  • Proficiency in SAS and R programming.
  • Immunology or related therapeutic area experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.
  • Experience with both early and late-phase clinical trials in biotech/pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
Skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Capability to manage deliverables with competing priorities and influence others.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage workflows and meet deadlines.

The salary range is $190,000 - $230,000 USD annually, variable based on experience and company policies. The position is based in South San Francisco, CA, with onsite expectations Tuesday through Thursday. Remote candidates within the Pacific Time Zone will be considered.
