Job summary

Winston Artory Group seeks an Associate Director, Appraisals to lead complex appraisal projects, ensuring USPAP compliance and client satisfaction. You will coordinate intake, specialists, and delivery, while advancing workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five to seven years of experience in personal property appraisal, art research, or related art services.
  • Current USPAP certification (15-Hour USPAP or equivalent); professional designation (ASA, AAA, or equivalent) in progress or achieved.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active project files and deadlines.
  • Strong writing skills for clear appraisal narratives and client correspondence.
  • Experience in one or more personal property categories (fine art, jewelry, decorative arts, etc.).
  • Comfort with technology-enabled workflows and digital collection management platforms.
  • Experience with auction databases and art market research tools (e.g., Invaluable, AskArt, MutualArt, Artnet).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; CRM and project management platforms experience.
  • Ability to travel for onsite examinations as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an active portfolio of complex appraisal assignments from intake to final report delivery.
  • Act as the primary client contact, communicating status and managing expectations.
  • Draft, edit, and assemble USPAP-compliant appraisal reports across property categories.
  • Coordinate with internal and contractor specialists for valuations and documentation.
  • Perform onsite examinations of personal property collections and cataloguing with travel as needed.
  • Maintain project records in CRM and project management systems; flag risks and changes.
  • Contribute to process improvements, templates, and workflow initiatives.
  • Assign report production tasks to appraisal staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with Business Development to build client/referrer relationships and support proposals.
