Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an AI leader to bridge strategic initiatives across the enterprise in New Jersey. You will work with executives and cross-functional partners to guide AI product owners, ensure compliance, and lead a high-performing team of principal engineers and scientists.

You will apply AI safety standards and governance while leveraging data platforms to deploy scalable models. The role requires a strong background in AI science/engineering, architecture, and enterprise risk management, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Ten or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training.
• Three or more years managing high-performing engineering/AI teams.
• Experience in AI Science/Engineering.
• Experience in AI/GenAI architecture, LLMOps, enterprise risk management, and distributed systems.
• Experience with AI safety standards such as NIST AI RMF.
• Experience with cloud governance frameworks including AWS/GCP.
• Experience with AI registration hubs such as Engram and Agent Registry.
• Experience with the 4-Quadrant AI Evaluation architecture.
• Master’s in Computer Science or AI Science preferred as an additional qualification.
• Ten or more years of AI Science/Engineering preferred as an additional qualification.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary strategic bridge across the enterprise.
• Interact daily with VP- and SVP-level executives across Legal, Information Security, and Responsible AI.
• Partner with AI Platform Engineering leaders building models.
• Guide business-unit AI product owners to ensure compliance.
• Direct a specialized team of Principal AI Engineers and Scientists.
• Apply Verizon corporate compliance policies, RIL frameworks, and industry AI safety standards.
• Use executive dashboards, cloud governance frameworks, AI registration hubs, and the 4-Quadrant AI Evaluation architecture to make strategic go/no-go deployment decisions.
• Leverage big data tools and programming frameworks to transform raw pipeline data into scalable data science models.
• Manage employees, including planning work and dividing it among employees.
• Ensure production ML tasks operate properly.
• Ensure data science code is maintainable and scalable using subject matter expertise.
