Associate Director, Access and Affordability

Position Summary

The Associate Director, Access and Affordability is responsible for ensuring that Otsuka’s CNS brands effectively integrate access and affordability considerations into their overall marketing and engagement strategies. This role will work closely with brand teams, market access, sales, finance, legal, and medical teams to develop messaging, resources, and programs that support patient access and pull-through. The individual will also be responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of affordability initiatives and making data-driven recommendations for optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Access & Affordability Strategy Development: Develop brand strategies to integrate access and affordability messaging for HCPs and consumers into brand and promotional plans, ensuring alignment with payer, HCP, and patient needs.
  • Messaging & Resource Development: Collaborate with brand teams to create marketing materials that clearly communicate product value, affordability programs, and access solutions to key stakeholders. Responsible for supporting major pull-through initiatives
  • Market Insights & Affordability Trends: Monitor trends in reimbursement, patient affordability challenges, and healthcare policy to inform access strategies and ensure proactive adaptation.
  • Fulfillment Programs: Work with Market Access as CNS Marketing representative in support of identifying and executing programs that reduce Rx abandonment and rejection
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with market access, sales, and medical teams to ensure seamless pull-through of access and affordability messaging in promotional activities and sales resources.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of access and affordability initiatives, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Patient & HCP Engagement Support: Ensure that access messaging is effectively integrated into field resources and consumer engagement strategies to address barriers to treatment. Provide training and support for Field Sales as needed.

Qualifications & Key Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Health Policy, or a related field; MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in marketing, market access, sales, payer marketing, patient access programs, or a related role in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • Strong understanding of reimbursement dynamics, patient affordability challenges, and access barriers
  • Direct experience in developing market access messaging, tools, resources
  • Ability to develop compelling messaging and resources that support patient access and affordability initiatives
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work across brand, sales, market access, and medical teams
  • Experience tracking and measuring the impact of access and affordability initiatives, using data to inform continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to work in a matrixed environment, managing multiple priorities and stakeholders

Minimum $164,530.00 - Maximum $245,985.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting salary for candidates hired to perform the work. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary such as the candidate’s job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role.
